Director & Founder

Gerardo Tristan is the Director and Founder of FaunAccion. He is an Anti-speciesist , Animal Rights and vegan activist and was born in Monterrey, Mexico where he studied Philosophy at the Archdiocesan Seminary of Monterrey. He also got bachelors in French Literature and education at the University of Lethbridge, in Alberta, Canada. Gerardo has been active in the Animal Rights movement—supporting projects and participating in campaigns at the local, national and international levels, giving talks at conferences, workshops, writing for magazines and other publications about issues such as speciesism, veganism, animal rights,—since 1996, both in Mexico and in the USA. Currently he is part of the local activist community in Atlanta, Georgia, USA, where he lives with is canine-human family: His husband, the writer, literary critic, scholar and jazz musician, Dr. Craig Womack and their canine rescue babies : Wotko, Steven, Thelonious and Eldon.
